To achieve their Antique Brass finish, Tradco take their Satin Brass product and age each item individually by hand. The item is then rubbed back with a soft cloth to lighten the finish; after which it is baked to set. Once baked, a clear lacquer is applied to protect the surface. Each product in this finish is hand aged, meaning each product has its own distinct variation and depth of colour, reflecting a mix of lighter and darker finishes.
Care: Clean it regularly with a damp soft cloth and be sure to keep it dry.
Caution: Take care to not damage the lacquer layer, as once this occurs the product will continue to age. With use, the finish will wear and reveal more brass which will also age.
TradCo hardware is manufactured from solid brass, a material commonly used in architectural hardware. Brass does not rust, however it can change in appearance over time when exposed to outdoor environments, depending on the finish. Many TradCo finishes include a lacquered, electroplated or powder-coated protective layer designed to slow this natural ageing process. The rate and nature of this change vary depending on the finish type, level of exposure and environmental conditions.
